I just finished printing an invitation for a couple in Oregon. Ryan (the groom) submitted the drawing of Mount Hood, which will be the backdrop of their wedding ceremony. I love the simplicity here, so elegant and peaceful. Great job, Ryan.

People often ask me how much detail they can expect to see with letterpress. You can always achieve a great amount of detail with your ink, but if you'd like a lot of impression in your piece you should allow some space between your lines. Too much crowding won't allow the plate to sink into the paper very well. Unless of course you use an extremely soft paper, like a 100% cotton art paper.

Here is a direction card that is part of an invitation set I printed this past weekend. It's a nice balance of tiny lines with enough space between.

limited editions

I'm back after my guest blog stint over at Design*Sponge, and am finally ready to post the limited editions! I'm behind schedule on these due to some other projects in Feb/March, so I decided to being the series with two prints. Last weekend I printed these invitations as a follow-up to save-the-date cards I worked on last fall. The bride-to-be traced the lace pattern from her dress, which we converted into artwork for her wedding stationery. I love the result, and again have to say how fun it can be collaborating with clients.

ready to wear

Here are a few shots of an invitation I printed last weekend, announcing the debut of the Loeffler Randall ready-to-wear and accessory lines. This job features two gorgeous shades of gray on Crane's 179lb. cardstock. I especially love the artwork, which was created by fashion illustrator Aimee Miller.

etsy press kits

I'm totally honored to have been chosen as March's artist of the month for Etsy. Etsy is the ultimate crafter's website, where you can buy and sell handmade items. I have an Etsy shop myself, and it has been great fun connecting with other people who make stuff.

My main task of the month is to create a series of pieces for Etsy's limited edition press kits. I've decided to use a wood grain theme for this project, which seems like good imagery for handmade things. Here's the first piece, a postcard which I finished yesterday. I'll post more items as they come off the press.

This was a busy weekend. After a solid week of computer work and proofs, I finally got down to printing early yesterday morning. Lots of fun projects to share, so I should be posting throughout the week. This is a wedding invitation I finished today, designed by the bride and groom. I like this bold black text against the light green background.
